The jacket is nothing short of fantastic - I would definitely recommend it. :) I bought the jacket on sale for 1800 and in my opinion it would have been a good buy even if the saving was less. The jacket warms so much that you don't actually feel the wind, even if you are standing in an open place. It is water resistant, so it works well in rainy weather - but this is probably due to the fact that it is still new and that the DWR coating has not disappeared yet. In any case, I hear that the waterproofness of the jacket decreases as it is washed.
