Safety First for Skistar’s Ski Instructors on the Slopes

Skistar & Sweet Protection

In recent years, the ski helmet has become an essential part of your ski gear, not just for beginners but also for experienced skiers. A helmet gives you that extra sense of safety, helping you push your limits on the slopes. Skistar has been working with Sweet Protection, one of the world's leading ski helmet brands, for years to ensure that Skistar's ski instructors have the best helmets when they're on duty in the mountains.

Marie Stenmalm is responsible for Guest Relations, including the ski school, at Skistar in Sälen. She's an experienced skier, having skied for 44 (!) years, and has worked as a ski instructor since 1995. She started using helmets in the early 2000s. Her first helmet was from Sweet Protection, and she's incredibly grateful for the collaboration between Sweet and Skistar.

"I had a bad fall one day, even though I’m an experienced skier and have been skiing for over 40 years. I got a concussion that led to long-term issues. If I hadn’t been wearing a helmet—a Sweet helmet with Mips protection—I don't know how I’d be today," she says. "I'm back to 100% now and I I hope we at Skistar Guides can inspire more people to wear helmets," she enthusiastically adds.

Sweet Protection was founded by a group of friends in Trysil, Norway, who couldn’t find products that gave them enough protection when skiing or kayaking on the river. They pushed each other, and nature was their playground. The days were "sweet," and they designed and made their own helmets. Their helmets quickly gained popularity in the ski community, winning several international awards for design and technical performance.

To achieve the best possible safety and comfort, Sweet Protection developed their own helmet technology platform, 2Vi®.

"Our 2Vi® platform integrates all our technologies, allowing us to maintain high protective capabilities without increasing the helmet’s volume and weight," says founder and product design director Ståle Møller. "Among other things, our helmets have an advanced 2-layer Mips system that effectively reduces harmful rotational forces that can be transferred to the head during a collision or crash. 2Vi® not only enhances the helmet’s protective properties but also boosts overall performance and comfort," adds Ståle.
