To keep your Hestra gloves soft, protected against the elements, and retaining their warmth year after year, it’s important to give them proper care. With the right maintenance, you can extend the lifespan of your gloves and preserve their quality. Check out Hestra's own tips here!
Give your gloves new life by replacing the lining instead of buying a whole new pair. A sustainable choice that extends their lifespan! Is the lining dirty? Wash it! Wool linings should always be hand washed to preserve their insulating properties, while other materials can often be machine washed – always follow the care instructions for your specific lining.
Feeling extra cold? A great tip is to add a pair of liners to your gloves! This keeps the temperature up and also extends the durability of your gloves.
Leather balm extends the life of your gloves by maintaining their flexibility and preventing drying out. However, new gloves don’t need to be conditioned immediately – it becomes necessary only after some use. The more you use your gloves, the more frequently they should be conditioned.
Balm may darken the leather, so test it first on a hidden area. Lightly dampen the leather, apply the balm with a polishing cloth, and repeat until the leather is saturated. Let it dry at room temperature, avoiding heat sources.
Hestra’s leather balm should only be used on sport gloves made of goat and cow leather. We recommend using Hestra's own leather balm for your gloves.
